Before you remove the battery. Unplug the spark plug. Add a table-spoon of engine oil to the spark plug hole to lubricate the piston and sleeve. Put plug back in and leave the boot off. Press the start button for a few cranks. Now reattach the spark plug boot and disconnect your battery. I'm not sure how long a battery can stay without use and keep a charge. There are electrical devices to maintain your battery in good conditions while in storage.
